Winning Pitcher - Joe Campbell (1-0) Losing Pitcher - Tim Huber (0-1) Save - Ryan Wrobel (2) Home Runs - STC - DJ Belfonte (1) Notes: The St. Cloud River Bats win the third Northwoods League Championship in their 11-year history and first since 2000. The Express out hit the River Bats 12-11 but bounced into four double plays in the game. DJ Belfonte (Nebraska) scored a run in the first and hit a two-run homer in the second to give St. Cloud the early command of the game against Eau Claire ace Tim Huber (Nebraska-Omaha). Huber went just five innings after allowing four runs on eight hits. River Bats starter Joe Campbell (Arkansas-Little Rock) earned the win after tossing five plus innings and giving up only one run. He scattered nine hits and took advantage of three double play balls. Isaac Morales (Cal State-LA) was sharp for most of his 2 1/3 innings of relief. He struck out five of the first six batters he saw before allowing two runs to score in the eighth inning. The Express left the bases loaded in the eighth, trailing by three runs. Ryan Wrobel (Nebraska-Kearney) got the final five outs of the game to record a save for the second straight night. Tim Wheeler (Sacramento State) had two hits and drove in two runs for St. Cloud. Bryce Nimmo (Nebraska), Kole Calhoun (Yavapai), and Jacob Jeffries (UC-Davis) had three hits apiece in the losing effort for Eau Claire. St. Cloud finishes 2007 with a 6-0 record against Eau Claire.
